How to Overcome Writer's Block?

There are several methods that you can try when dealing with writer's block:    Author Neil Gaiman wrote on his blog about how he got over his own "block" and managed to write a new short story. For him, the most efficient way of overcoming it was by waking up early in the morning, getting some coffee and going straight to work without planning or thinking too much about what he is going to do. It sounds simple enough – just get up early and start writing! It works for him because he knows that he wants to write even if it is not easy at all times. According to Neil, we shouldn't force ourselves to write, but we shouldn't "allow the idea of writing a book, or a story to become an obstacle". He also says that you should never get upset by not having ideas because they usually come later. If he can get rid of his own writer's block, so can you!

Writer and novelist Kate Hamer found another way of dealing with it: she goes for long walks in nature and this makes her feel more relaxed and able to focus on what she is actually doing – creating something worthwhile.

There are also other techniques you may try such as meditation or yoga (which is said to be beneficial for creativity); however, be careful not to overdo with those methods as they might result in a complete opposite effect and you might end up even more tired than before.
